A race of aliens called Mimics have taken over continental Europe. Major William Cage (Tom Cruise), a member of the NATO-led United Defense Forces (UDF), is summoned to London to meet with General Brigham (Brendan Gleeson). Brigham states the UDF's intention to launch Operation Downfall against the Mimics in a D-Day style invasion.
